Last year I was lucky enough to shoot Matt and Katherine’s Phillip Island Wedding at the stunning Trenavin Chapel. Ever since I’ve been looking forward to an opportunity to discover more of the Bass Coast region. Kyra and Adam’s wedding was my first in Inverloch, but hopefully not my last – what a beautiful part of the world. I was amazed by the range of photographic opportunities. From the obvious beauty of the many secluded beaches, through to the rolling hills and pastoral splendour, it’s truly a photographer’s dream.
I hadn’t met Adam or Kyra prior to the wedding but that’s not unusual these days. With weddings spread across the state and people’s schedules being what they are, I often find email and phone are our only communication prior to the day. I found Adam and Kyra so easy to work with, they were both so relaxed and open to suggestion. I’m often asked by couples for tips on how to prepare for photos on the day. My answer is always the same ; don’t think about it. If you can remain in the moment then the photography will take care of itself. I’m not one to rush couples from location to location. I find it really just leads to stress and exhaustion. I don’t want your focus to be on anything other than enjoying your wedding day. Afterall, isn’t that why we are all here?
A good bridal party will always keep a couple grounded and in the moment and Adam and Kyra’s were no exception. I enjoyed a great afternoon with them, making the most of the beaches and their spectacular sweeping views. If you’re thinking of having a Phillip Island Wedding yourself, I’d love to hear from you. I feel like I have only just discovered this beautiful region, and look forward to revealing so much more!
